New paint shop elevates production
9.6.2025The new paint shop in Kållby will be taken into use in June and can accommodate transport units up to 24 metres long. The project is one of Ekeri’s most significant single investments to date. The new facilities, which include robotic painting, enable surface treatment of up to 40 units per week.
Construction work for the paint shop began in September 2024, with a total investment of approximately four million euros.
“Previously, we painted up to 20 units per week. With the new paint shop, we can now double the capacity to 40 units, which represents a significant uplift in production”, says production manager Mattias Bergström.

Modern technology and future-ready facilities
The paint shop is divided into a preparation station, a painting hall, and a drying hall. During painting operations, solvents emit vapours in the drying process. In the new drying areas, the vapours are efficiently filtered through a carbon filter to ensure that emissions to the surrounding environment are reduced.
Painting is further streamlined with the help of robots. Thanks to automated painting processes, paint consumption can be reduced by 20–30 percent. More advanced painting work and quality control still require manual labour.
Industry developments indicate longer vehicle combinations to reduce both costs and emissions. The longest transport units currently manufactured by Ekeri are 16 metres. The new paint shop provides space for transport units with a length of up to 24 metres, creating ideal conditions for the future.
