Our carbon footprint in 2023 – Ekeri receives the Chamber of Commerce’s Carbon Footprint Calculated label
17.9.2024Ekeri Oy is one of the first industrial companies to be awarded the Chamber of Commerce’s prestigious Carbon Footprint Calculated label, demonstrating that we remain at the forefront of the industry in our commitment to the environment and sustainability.
The Carbon Footprint Calculated label demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to climate change by calculating its operations’ Scope 1 and 2 emissions using the internationally recognised GHG Protocol.
For Ekeri, the carbon calculation is one of several measures to promote a sustainable transport industry. Daniel Asplund, Sustainability and After Sales Manager at Ekeri, says of the initiative:
“The carbon calculation shows that we are aware of our environmental impact and are actively working to reduce it. We are proud to be one of the first companies in the automotive industry to receive this recognition.”
The result of the calculation
According to the calculations, Ekeri’s carbon footprint will be 107 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents (tCO2e) in 2023 (143 tCO2e in 2022, 169 tCO2e in 2021). This figure represents the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by our operations during the measurement period. Operations refers to emissions from the energy we use in our buildings and vehicles.
The emissions are equivalent to the impact that 107 tonnes of pure carbon dioxide would have on the climate. More specifically, the results show that there is potential for further emissions reductions, but also that Ekeri has already taken significant steps in this direction.
Part of a broader initiative
The opportunity to calculate and verify the carbon footprint is an initiative of the Chamber of Commerce, which aims to promote companies that value sustainable business practices.
For Ekeri, the label is a way of openly communicating our carbon footprint to our customers and the public.
